Category: The Hippocratic Oath
Summary: On the advice of Professor Tsukuba Kimito, a physician she respects, houseman Tsugano Makoto takes training at forensic medicine classes. She gingerly steps into a classroom with a strange atmosphere. However, the crotchety, eccentric but outstanding forensic professor Kosaki Tojiro gives her a polite brush-off and leaves the place. Left alone in the classroom, Makoto takes a phone call. The caller is a young girl who asks if an autopsy can be conducted here. She wants an autopsy for the woman who died in a car accident that her father caused. Because the girl believes in her father’s innocence, detective Kotegawa Kazuya requests that Professor Kosaki do the autopsy to reveal the truth. Makoto tries to persuade the victim’s family, but gets rejected. Although the police does not deem it necessary to conduct an autopsy, Professor Kosaki goes ahead as if disregarding the feelings of the family. Makoto cannot agree with his methods and starts to feel herself wavering to learn the truth revealed by his skilled hands. However, she gets involved in the hidden darkness of this autopsy as she trains under Professor Kosaki in a story that throws the ethical conflict surrounding autopsies and human relationships into sharp relief.
